Goodbye Sullana...on to Chulucanas

Sullana - Logan's first area

Well I got transferred to Chulucanas. I wonder how many of you know how to pronounce that? Chulucanas is awesome. I guess I am closer to the ocean, just the wrong ocean hahah. My companion told me that there are no mosquitos or anything and that this is like the best area haha but this is his first area. hahah. It was pretty hard to say goodbye to some of the members in Sullana though. But i left sullana this morning and now am sitting here in Chulucanas. My companion is elder Moran from Honduras. He has been in the mission since about November and I am senior companion. Everyone was telling me about how awesome Chulucanas is and I can already see what they were talking about haha. Me and my companion are off to a great start and are great friends already. I'm sure you guys saw on Adhayrs facebook about the surprise baby shower we did for Tatiana. It was a great activity and she got a lot of stuff for her baby that she probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise. This week I read Thomas S Monson's talk from the past conference. I don't know the name of it in English but in Spanish it is no te dejarè ni te desmpararè. It was seriously one of the best talks I have read and you guys should definitely read it. Well that's all. I will tell you all about Chulucanas next week when I know more. Love you.



Mom note: These are a few of the families Logan worked with while serving in Sullana. I have never met any of these people nor will I, and Logan doesn't give many details of their "stories"! What I do know is I have seen him grow so much in the first months of his mission and these families (along with many others) had a hand in that...I'm grateful for wonderful people of Sullana who took care of my son and contributed to his growth!

New companion Elder Moran from Honduras

Well this was a pretty normal week haha. It wasn't too hot or sunny and actually rained one day. On Saturday we had exchanges with the zone leaders and I was with Elder Mejia and it was pretty sweet to be with him for a day. We have been good friends ever since I got here so it was cool to actually get to have conversations with him instead of just talking at a zone conference or something. Today we went to Marcavelica and played soccer in the stadium and finally got to play on an actual sized soccer field haha. I played for about thirty minutes then got sick of running and started playing goalie haha. Adhayr told me Denver lost, that's too bad. Wish I could listen to how quiet all the Denver fans are being this Monday haha even though I also wanted them to win. Next week are exchanges so this is probably the last email that you will be getting from me from Sullana because I will probably be changed to some other area. Hopefully somewhere by the ocean so I can have a nice breeze haha. Well love you guys.

 

Well this was another hot week here in Sullana haha. On Wednesday we found out that this place called Jibito is a part of our area and you have to take a taxi to get there so we decided to go and check it out. It ended up just being a lot of hiking in the hot sun haha, but we went down by the river and that was pretty cool. On Saturday we had another baptism and that all went good. It was of a girl that has been listening to the missionaries for over a year and couldn't be baptized because her mom wouldn't give her permission but she turned 18 and could finally do it. Sunday we had another baptism but it was of a girl who turned 8 so its not like we were teaching her or anything. Me and my companion are frustrated with our ward because there is no support at the baptisms. At the baptism yesterday the only people that were there was the family of the little girl and the ward mission leader. We are trying to get the ward more involved in the work but its frustrating when they say they will do stuff and then don't show up. There have been a lot of temblores (I don't know what they are called in English) lately so we have all been joking around about how there is going to be an earthquake here pretty soon haha. Also things are getting pretty serious between Peru and Chile so we might start telling people my companion is from somewhere else so they don't get mad at us haha. Love you guys.
